'04 check out
Well, I went to my dealer this saturday and had the oil changed and tires rotated on the KR and I was hoping and was pleasantly greeted by a new '04 F150 on his lot. I have to say I like the look of the new design. The interior is pretty sharp. He only had one in stock, (small dealer), and it was an FX4 Scab, stickered at I believe $33,500 or thereabouts. Had the new 5.4 but I didn't drive it. I'll wait til he gets a screw in with the 5.4 and go test it out. The one he had did not have the flow thru console. I am really interested to see how this looks. The instrumentation I liked. I think the center stack, in this one anyway, looked cheap. Maybe in a Lariat, it will look better. The back seat in the scab is definitely more comfortable than the previous generation. Still doesn't have near the leg room of the screw tho. This one was True Blue, one of my favorite colors, and looked nice. The one BIG disappointment was the rims and tires. The rims weren't all that bad, but considering this was an FX4 Off Road package, the tires sucked. They were General Ameritrac AT or something to that effect. They looked like passenger car radials. Size was 255/70/17, smaller than the ones on my KR. If this is what they are offering on the FX4 "Off Road" package, I am really disappointed. I think they should put some more aggressive meat on that package. Anyway, thought I would put my two cents worth in here, I know ya'll don't mind. Overall, I give it a thumbs up, with a couple of minor things I feel could be better, but, then again, I am spoiled by the KR you know. I honestly think when I get ready to trade in my KR I will look at a Super Duty anyway, but I want Ford to keep that No 1 in sales going. Hope the average consumer likes this truck.
i think the 04's look great, i sat in a lariat supercrew 4x4 today with the flow-thru console. it looked great but the shifter felt extremely cheap, like if you squeezed it too hard it would burst into pieces. but overall i give the truck a thumbs up
just my 02
just my 02
I went and looked/drove a supercrew with the flowthrough and I liked it a lot. I made that comment when I got home and was told to forget it, that whether or not I drive my 03 King Ranch is up to me but it will be aroung for another two or three years cause I spend to much. Just waite till they come out with the King Ranch in 05 and we will see who wins the fight!!!!!!
I'm absolutely in love with the 04 Lariat. Ford hit the nail on the head with the interior...
I'm VERY VERY anxious to see the KR... with the looks of this new interior, I'm not sure they can go wrong with it....
Now, get rid of that FORD billboard that is on the tailgate and I'll give it 110% approval. That emblem is just too damn big....

not to **** on anyone's parade, but:
well, i finally got around to thoroughly checking out the new f150. i came away thinking that my current truck ('02 king ranch s-crew) will continue to be my truck for awhile.
things i liked...ride/drive and quietness.
things i didn't like...discovered the interior isn't as nice as i originally thought. some of the switch gear feels cheap. the large grain in the plastic pieces made the interior look cheap. the faux wood on the lariat was atrocious! fx4 interior much better. the interior door handles feel exactly like they look (like flimsy chrome covered plastic). fuel door is plastic. and on some colours it stands out like a sore thumb because the shading looks different than the sheet metal.
the engine and tranny did nothing to impress me although the 4r75e in this truck did shift smoother than the 4r70w in my truck.
all in all, not impressed enough to trade in my last generation f150....
