Why did I waste time-- Lease question

I've been browsing the net looking for this answer and I forgot to check here first. I lamented weeks about about there not being a KR in 04 and whether I should wait. Well I'm gonna wait for the KR to re-emerge in 05, if it doesn't well then I'll just buy a toyota and hand myself but...

in the mean time I need a car for about a year. Does anyone know if you can lease a car for one year? I hate to dump $1000-$1500 into my escort to keep it alive when its only worth $500 so I'm investigating other options.

Opinions...

Thx

Jim

You might try contacting a dealer about leasing for one year. You might have to pay more but I don't see why they wouldn't do it. Another question is how much will said lease cost and how it sompares with keeping your old car running. Also, do you need reliable transportation that your old car might not live up to. Just some thoughts.

Don't know much about Ford's lease programs, but I've turned in two BMWs on lease for an upgrade/change in vehicle with no problems. In short: tell the dealer what you want to do. See if you can lease a vehicle with an option to pick up the 05 KR when it comes out. Manufacturers just want to turn product right now and getting you into 2 new cars over a 18 month to 2 year span should appeal to them. Worth a try.
Good luck.

You probably can lease a certified used car from a dealer for a year....but frankly it is bound to be a bad deal. Best case is a few hundred a month.

Buy a $3000 car like a mid 90's grand am or something with 80,000 miles and sell it in a year for a few hundred less. even fixing the escort would be cheaper than the hit you'll take leasing.

None of my business i suppose...but why's a guy about to drop $30-35,000 on a KR clinging to a $500 escort?

Why am I clinging to the $500 escort?

Because I'm cheap, cheap, cheap. Heck I've got my mustang that I love and haven't fixed the air conditioner because I figure, "it ain't that hot". But...that said. When I go to buy something I buy just what I want. This truck will be the first brand new vehicle I've ever owned, and I've told the wife that there will be no corners cut on this one. If I want the way overpriced DVD player than gosh darnit, I'm gonna get it. I know its a waste but this truck will be everything I want, not one option will I be able to say...I wish I woulda.

C ya

Wink DONT BUY A TOYOTA

I work at a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership (# 1 in the nation actually), and have become pretty close with the owner. He says that the King Ranch will be available with the '04 year model, but it's going to be late availablity, just like it was in '01.
