A Cryin Shame
A Cryin Shame
Y'all aren't going to believe what I just saw here in Dallas. some jerk has the nerve to actually use a Charcoal Blue King ranch 150 for a work truck...the shame of it all.
He had his roofing company sign on the door, a ladder rack bolted to the bed and the bed full of roofing tools and shingles.
I felt like stopping and asking him if he was out of his mind, but people pack heat here so I figured he's making the payments and not me.

Tisk Tisk...
I guess some people actually use their King Ranch trucks. LOL... fancy that.
As close to work as mine comes is hauling a few coolers of samples down to the Fedex office to ship them off to the lab.
ROFL!

Maybe you're not singing the same chorus as a lot of us but, lashing out in a childish manor isn't the way to earn any respect among us. Lay off a little.
We all love our trucks and have different interpretive ways to use them and to value them. Don't persecute someone because they're different from you. No one has lashed out at you.

maybe you should look at the post about my truck when I had the glassworks fenders and various off road mods posted; because when I posted it, I was hung, drawn, and quartered, by the members of the "KR crew"
I am merely saying, and this isn't directed at you RP, just all who feel the sting, you know who you are.
Get a grip, people should be able to do what they want to do with their rig. Personally, my truck is a destination cruiser, and my sole vehicle when I am on the Mainland (save, the Toy's).
I use my King Ranch off-road, and quite possibly my truck has even more international miles (Mexico) on it than even the illustrious Lenticular.
I believe in freedom of expression, but there is no need for the elitist diatribe I see from these boards at times specifically the KR board. The man uses his truck as he sees fit and unless you are footing the bill, get off his back.
Just like a bunch of old hens sitting around gossiping about how someones values aren't in line with theirs, and why they are better than them because of it.

Weezell,
I'm totally with you on freedom of expression and, furthermore, I'm totally with you on the fact that everyone has a right to his or her opinion, no matter how ludicrious it may seem to others. Where I have to draw the line is your interpretation on the 'KR board'. I'm not sure how you have come to that conclusion but, I can definately attest that the vast majority of our users/members are here for one or two key reasons. One would be to unwind. Two would be to learn something that they need to know. Lastly, three, the folks who are here and anxious to help with someone's questions/problems.
I think just about everyone on f150online.com can be tossed into one of those three catergories (if not all three).
Any one of the folks that you see frequenting the 'KR board' would be willing to bend over backwards to help just about anyone with an issue that they may be having. The atmosphere that we have here is, indeed, unique versus that of the other forums however; I can't see how it could be interpretted as 'elitest'.
We're driving trucks... not an Enzo over in Italy.

Hey, I'd give the guy a thumbs up for going to work in style! Got an acquaintance here in Dallas who owns a roofing company. His daily driver is an Escalade. And once a month he hauls a bunch of his workers down to the Palm for dinner & drinks in his jeans & boots. Gotta love it!
So, what catagory do I fall into?

This was just one of many hauls I made and last weekend I hauled over 7000 lbs of concrete on the same trailer, works like a champ and I wouldn't appreciate someone telling me that I'm stupid for using my truck as a truck because I have special leather seats. If someone buys a truck, then he or she can do what ever they bloody choose to do with it whether it's hauling loads or hauling a$$ or polishing the paint down to the primer.
I have a truck because I need one, I have a KR because I love the interior and other treatments and I can afford it.

Seriously, seems like a waste of $ to me to use a truck with an interior like that as strictly a work truck. On the other hand, after busting your hump all day in the Texas sun, it would be nice to have something comfortable to drive home in. Its his money, who cares. Seems like something you would only see in one of those cheesy Ford ads for the supercrew- Four burly roofers climbing out of a spotless supercrew with hammers in hand, the bed stacked neatly in equal rows of shingles.
Daveman-what are you doing with 7000 lbs of concrete?
BD
Oh, this is the "elitist" reference post...
I'm with you mostly Daveman, I got the King for two reasons
1. The wife wanted it
2. I loved the interior
I got the Lightning for two reasons
1. The wife wanted it
2. Lord it was a beast!
However, RANT ON
While yes I pay the bill there is someone somewhere who will not appreciate my use of a truck (jeez Skagel would have me flogged with a Lexol soaked rag if she saw the interior of my King).
I still cant justify the "elitist" comment. While it has taken me a while to study my "Elitist 101 KR Forum Protocol" handbook (thanks for sending it Pres. RP) I haven't felt left out or afraid to post in this forum. There are a great many intelligent people in this forum from many different backgrounds, careers, age levels etc. but the banter almost NEVER seems elitist or "put downish".
I can go off topic with weird stuff any time in this board without feeling like an "idjut" and everyone here is quite tolerant.
Freedom is a choice, for instance freedom of speech gives you the choice to say whatever you wish (within limits) BUT you must also be ready to take the consequences of that choice. The same applies to vehicles. (at some point on this forum I'll get reminded that I said that
)
For anyone who doesn't live near sandy beaches your off road package may beg a "WTF"?.
If you mod (or not) it's kinda' silly to get overly upset because someone doesn't like your mods, in your words "get a grip" I had a person walk past my BRAND NEW SPARKLING RED MUSTANG/CAMARO EATING LIGHTNING in the Wal-Mart parking lot on his way to his "K" car say "Man that's ugly" how did I take it? I went out and smoked a Trans-AM (life was good).
Where I lost confidence was in the "elitest" and "illustrious" and "old hens" comments. I have "0" international miles to brag about on my KR (or any of my cars for that matter), I'm a high school dropout with an attitude, and I still don't feel I'm in competition with Lenny or anyone else here, and really don't feel bad about it.
Have you ever seen one of those Plymouth Neons with a fart can, a triple wing that would lift a B-52, and enough stickers to make illegal window tinting a moot point and laughed? If you want to see "elitist mentality" compare the 100 or so "last" messages between the KR board and the Lightning or any of the Stangnet or Bowtie boards.
On a final note, a message board is kinda' like free speech, if you don't want to hear it just walk away man, life is too short and you pay the bill for your truck...
RANT OFF

Side note: is there REALLY a beach on Hawaii called PHAKUU or is my mind just in the gutter?

Bronco,
Actually, I'm pouring the footing for my 24x28 shop one piece at a time and I'll need a total of 21,000 lbs of concrete but I didn't want to over do it so I only hauled two pallet loads for now which consists of (84) 80 lb bags of Quikrete from Lowes. Delivered concrete costs $85/yd^3 and the bagged mix costs $105/yd^3 but I have several reasons as to why I have chosen to pour the concrete in small increments, I can handle it myself and prepare each form one at a time.
What the hell you been up to these days?
Later,

Stepping Back In..
It seems that some have stirred the KR pot here and I feel I should make another comment...
Stop reaming someone for making a freaking comment about using their truck as a work truck...
Good lord guys... get off of it. I think the original comment was said in a joking fashion and many of you have misinterpreted it in a gross fashion. Taking something totally out of context is one thing but then taking it again and again and again is another.
Get over it...
There have been numerous times that we've laughed and BS'd about someone actually using their truck... This is how this thread started before 'some' took total exception to how it was meant to be interpreted. Move on. Get over it. Geesh...
Since when have we ever been totally serious?
