question on towing?
Anybody else tow with their KR? Wife and I currently have a pop-up camper, about 3200# loaded. I pulled it with the Ranger (4.0 with 4.10's) without any problems. Cruised on the interstate at 70 mph without a problem unless it was really windy, then dropped back to 60-65mph. I have no concerns with the pop-up and the KR, but after reading some things in the towing section, I had a little concern because... We are looking at upgrading to an "expandable" travel trailer, the one's where the ends pop out like a pop-up, but it is a full upright TT. The one we are looking at has a GVWR of 5600#. I know that's fully loaded with full water tanks etc., probably would be looking at about 4800-4900# when I pull. The rating on my truck is 7100# I believe, but read some comments on the other forum that said the Screws are not the best for towing? Any comments from someone with experience? I feel I would be fine, but am curious to hear from anybody with some "sperience" as DW says during the NASCAR races. (sorry to offend with the NASCAR thing again, but to me, that's real racin'
) Would love to hear from anybody.

I would say that it is fair to assume that your 5.4L KR pulling the TT you describe will be about the same as a Ranger 4.0L pulling 3200lbs.
So, you already have more experience with it than you realize.

IL6,
I have a 2000 Tracker Party Barge 25 w/ i/o motor.Its about 4500 pounds w/trailer empty.Add 30 gallons gas and enough food and gear for 4 days and I guess it to be about 5500 to 6000 pounds.I haven't had any problems.I keep below 60 though.Hope this helps.

I have a 19 1/2 foot travel trailer, fully loaded is about 56-5700 pounds and have had no problems with my KR supercrew. I live in Washington St. with lots of hills and mnt. passes, travel to Oregon quit a bit. No problems towing but my gas mileage sucks.
Hope this helps.

I knew someone that had a 29 ft camper. It weighed more than the one you are looking at, probably 6000 plus. It pulled ok, but had a little trouble on hills. I'd say you should be fine, especially if you have the tow package.

Thanks for all the input guys. I knew I had asked the right people. I'm not looking to set any speed records when I pull the trailer, but would like to keep up with traffic on the interstate, say 65-70 mph. I figured I would be OK since the rating on the truck is 7100#, but had heard, err read, some negative input on towing with the screw and it kind of worried me. I think it'll do just fine, after all, it's a Ford right? Gotta keep things in line for when I travel to the NASCAR races with the trailer, (just for you again Lent
) I think with the 5.4 L and the 3.73 rear end, and the tow package with the larger tranny cooler I should be fine. It's set up the best way you can get it from the factory. Thanks again guys.
