that is an awsome touch RP! I always say that its the small details that count, and thats a perfect example of it! Now ya just gotta finish all the other under hood plastic pieces so EVERYTHING matches

nice work again!

Man, you have been busy. I was going to do that to my last Supercrew (thus all of the cans of paint) and never got around to it. What type of paint for the plastic? What preporation did you have to do? Made a huge differance!

It's paintscratch.com medium parchment interior paint (with flex)that I had left over from matching my subwoofer to the interior.

As far as prep is concerned, I simply cleaned the area with alcohol and used fingernail polish remover to get the remaining 'goo' off of the stickers from where I peeled them off.

I had two new stickers and, once it all dried, I slapped those on.

Did you apint the underside as well? How is it holding up so far? Just curious as to if it flakes off and how carefull you might have to be with it. Looks great! I was thinking along the same lines on my truck.

RP...

When you were contemplating painting the shroud did you think about getting a completely new one to either work on that one or play with the old one.
Wondered how much the unit might be ....also I presume you ordered the decals...how much were they?

I wouldn't normally contemplate following suit like that but the black one certainly shows up the dirt and muck every time I lift the hood. I think your one may not show it up quite as badly.

yeah, how much was the radiator sticker? i ripped mine off and it was pretty fugly so i chucked it, so i'd kind of like to get a new one just to keep for the info that was on it. Going with a Vaporlock custom radiator sticker once its warm enough outside to put on

No, I didn't paint the underside as I didn't have enough paint on hand. Thus far, holding up a-o-k. Just took a road trip this weekend and no rock chips or 'bug marks' to report. Hopefully, it'll hold and I won't have to be ripping it off and repainting it frequently.

Lenny, I just used my existing shroud. I didn't see the point in going out and dropping more $ on another one when the one I had would work just fine. I just drove around without one for a few days... not as if anyone noticed.

I didn't order the decals. My factory installed decals were 'bubbling up' thus, when I took my truck in a few weeks ago for warranty issues, I had them order me a couple of new ones. Covered under warranty of course... I just convinced them to 'give' me the stickers and I would install them myself. Of course I had to give them the old ones.

The stickers DO NOT COME OFF EASY. I worked for hours attempting to remove the remaining 'gunk' that was left on the shroud after removal. Fingernail polish remover works decent but, it was still A LOT of work.

The part numbers for the stickers are actually printed on the stickers themselves. I don't know how much they cost... warranty is free.

Josh, No clue on cost. I had them from a warranty issue. Sorry. A custom sticker from vapor sounds cool.... what were you thinking? Hrrm...

hmm...i better act quick...my warranty is up in 5 months
i've still got the remaining pieceS (plural ) from the original, so hopefully they can swing it for me.

And i know what ya mean, i must have spent 2 hours cleaning that friggin shroud off. Its like the print was on the adhesive, and just a clear sticker over top. what a PITA!!!
