King Ranch Leather Conditioner??
King Ranch Leather Conditioner??
I just returned home from my Ford dealer where I tried to purchase some King Ranch leather conditioner. He said Ford had never sent them any to sell to customers.
The salesman said a couple of people told hem that they had received a coupon direct from Ford for a free bottle of the leather conditioner--has anyone out ther gotten this notice?
Debbie and Shannon at North Central Ford where I bought the truck said to use any of the off the shelf cleaner-conditioner but I wanted to try the KR stuff just for grins.

The dealer that sold me my KR said the exact same thing. Told them to order me some, but have yet to get a call. Go to a tack shop or even a Petco where they sell saddles and get the Lexol cleaner and the Lexol conditioner. Works great.
lots of discussions here on the subject but the short of it. put it on by hand. don't do it too often or you'll weaken the leather. buy the lexol and don't worry about the ford stuff. at a saddle shop it is a quarter the price ford charges and smells better.
A few months after we got our KR, Ford actually sent free bottle of the conditioner. You can also order off the King Ranch website, but it is spendy. I've used the lexol conditioner and it works good in my opinion. I want to say dufunnel tried the lexol cleaner on his steering wheel and screwed up the leather. Just a word of caution. dufunnel, can you verify?
Indeed, the KR leather conditioner was sent to 2001 and 2002 original buyers of the KR edition (along with a leather planner or portfolio).
As others have mentioned, the Ford conditioner is pricey but, it isn't bad stuff.
Again, as others have recommended, I use the Lexol conditioner (brown bottle) and love it. Much cheaper and, in my opinion, better results.
To confirm about the Lexol Cleaner (Orange Bottle), that is what screwed Dufunnel's steering wheel. I, too, have had bad results from the cleaner and I simply don't use it.
If you insist on having the Ford conditioner, follow this link:

and search for Ford Conditioner. You'll find it. It's expensive. It smells like a solvent chemical factory.
That's all I'm going to say about conditioning. We've beat this subject into the ground over the past couple of years.
Hope this helps you out Jayhawker. If you need additional information, try scrolling back through the KR forums and you'll find numerous posts about leather care and conditioning and EVERY KR OWNER UNDER THE SUN'S OPINION about what they like and use. I don't want to start that debate again... it got ugly.

Thanks for the info guys, didn't intend to stir things up.
Since there are a couple of horses here in Texas I'm sure I can find a saddle shop and get some Lexol to try.

You didn't stir things up at all.
It's just that as RP said we have beaten the subject to death with our favorite potions !
Over here in the UK I use Connolly hide food on the "better" cars.
(Daren't mention them again!)(Except RP guess what will be waiting for me when I get back to the UK !)
In the States I have always used the correct KR stuff and have been very pleased.
I was at the saddle shop a while back and met the lady who had tried out all the various treatments with the guys from Ford and that's how they came up with the stuff Ford recommends.
You can order it direct from the saddle shop and it's probably worth having a look at their catalog anyway !
