I remember test driving an early 70's f250 with 34" tires or so on it. The thing had manual steering and brakes. I can only imagine a rig with brakes on the rear only. That darn F250 was work to stop.
Salesman: "OK, pull over in the gravel here."
me: "ok...ok, stop..stop....STOP BABY STOP!"

had a 71 f250 long bed back in 93, man what an ugly truck all rusted and looking like it was going to fall apart at any second but darn if that thing just wouldn't break down ever or pass a gas station for that matter. it had a 3sp with a granny gear and would pull darn near anything out of a ditch.

D'C'Man (Boy you got a long screen name!)
Yes the truck is in store in Houston while we are in the UK, but watch out !
Next Tuesday we fly into Houston via Philly and pick up the truck Wednesday morning and take the long 7 hr drive down to 'El Valle'.
Then we get to enjoy the truck in the sunshine for a couple of months !

Thanks for the kind offer.
We are back in the RGV right now. (Rio Grande Valley), though not getting quite the weather we are used to here. Mind you it has been cool enough to give the truck a really good going over and I have treated the leather again...about 4 times in the first year !
The truck had got really dusty in Houston because they rebuilt the main street (Westheimer) where the truck is stored, but even though under a cover it got filthy!)
The leather does look good now though and is very supple. Still using the recommended KR stuff.
We are thinking of a road trip at some stage while we are here and may go out Vegas way via Big Bend, but if we swing back near the big D will let you know !
Cheers
