Speedometer cover

I somehow aquired a large scratch on the clear plastic piece that covers the speedometer and the other guages (gas, oil, etc). Does anyone know how much a new plastic cover costs and how hard it is to replace the old one myself? Am I going to have to take the whole dash apart to get to it?

Thanks in advance.

What a coincidence -- I was replacing my gauge faces and used a glass cleaner on the clear piece -- really messed it up and pissed me off. Anyway, I got a new one for < $20. The hardest part about replacing it will be getting the headlight switch off -- there's a bolt behind it that holds the dash surround on there. Otherwise, it's a cinch. Make sure you ahve a torx screwdriver set...

Thumbs up

I have had my dash apart 10 times or more, and I've never needed a torx screwdriver?? Once you get it apart, try polishing the scratch out using compound and cleaner wax, I've used it before on mine with much success. I also fixed mine after a vinyl cleaner fogged it up, made it look brand new again. Good luck!,,,,98

Thanks guys.

I went to my dealer today and luckily he had one for my truck in stock. With tax it amounted to $27. I took the dash apart and put it in.

Torx ? On the back of the switch on the left side , there is a little lever type button , push it and the left side will pull out first , then it pops right out .No torx needed
