I purchased My 1998 XLT Supercab used from the dealer last September and it was painfully obvious the prior owner was a smoker. I used warm water and a towel to cleanse the seats and carpet of ash, and the oder was gone...until I use the AC. The thing wreaks! It is the worst stale cigarette smell ever. Does anyone have any ideas about erraticating the pipes in the dash of the stench or am I SOL? I can see the ash dust in the conduit in the console.

Go down to AutoZone or any autoparts store and ask for a
bottle of air conditioning disenfectant for killing mold and
bateria. Just spray this into the outside air intake up by your
windshield with the ac on in the normal setting. The normal
setting sucks air in from the outside whereas the maxac only
uses air from inside the cab. If this stuff can kill mold and
bacteria, It should be able to kill cigarette odor. It worked
great on my wife's van. Just follow the instructions on the
bottle. The cost is only like $3.00.
