F150 XLT seats
Close as hell to buying a 2002 4.2 5-speed regular cab, short bed, silver F150 XL with polished wheels, sliding rear window, and 3:55 limited slip rear....can't tolerate the seats though. Anyone know a place or way to get XLT seats?
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks,

the "base" price for a xl is 18780.
the "base" price for a xlt is 20995.
for the extra 2200 you get the seats you want, power windows, locks, mirrors, keyless entry, cd player, overhead console, tachometer, cruise control, and leather wrapped wheel.
i doubt youll be able to get a seat like u want for less then 500.
on a 60 mo loan , the xlt difference would only be $34 a month.
the 500 you would spend on a seat would make up the difference in the payment for almost 15 months.

Thanks, Jeff...but I really couldn't care less about all those XLT options (which aren't included in the base XLT anyway). Not to mention that it's near impossible to find a 5-speed XLT, and the automatic is not only 1,000 more, but I prefer the 5-speed. The same truck with the XLT power package that you speak of (and automatic transmission) is actually MSRP'd 5,000 more than the one I'm looking at.
For 14,000$, I doubt I'm going to do any better than the one I'm looking at given the time of year and that it has everything I want minus the seats.
Ebay didnt have anything when I checked. Looks like I'm stuck.

Then you know how rare they are. A silver 5-speed XLT flareside? Sounds like you own the exact truck I want!!!
Used is definitely my best bet. Anyone know a boneyard that might carry late model truck stuff?

no no no , the stuff i listed is standard on the xlt for 20995 all you would add to that price is the sliding rear window and limited slip. All xlt's come with all the stuff i listed above.

and how are you getting a $20000 truck, (XL cost of 18780, plus sliding window, plus limitied slip, plus dest and delivery) for $14000. Thats cheaper than my A plan price i get for working for ford.
Amen, buddy...
...you're right in the range i paid for my XL with Tow, V8, cassette (an option at the time) and appearance package (snappy aluminum wheels and color-keyed trim)...that dressed-up XL hit my dealer's floorplan and he was dying to get rid of it...the guy who handled my delivery told me i beat A-plan, too.
I have a 1997 XLT and it doesnt have remote entry, cd or leather wrapped steering wheel. I cant believe they didnt at least put remote entry on this truck! I miss that option. Any one know how much for aftermarket remote entry? Or even what a dealer would charge to install factory remote entry?

Well, again, I don't really need all that hooplah on the XLTs. The truck I'm looking at is sticker priced at 19,190...with the $2500 Ford rebate, a $400 college grad rebate, and some haggling I have it for $14,400. There is an XLT right beside it, flareside with automatic, same shortbed and regular cab...it's $23,995. Just not willing to pay that kind of extra cash for a leather wrapped steering wheel. Tacometer would be nice though...especially with the 5-speed.
It's a great deal, I know...which is why I'm trying to cope with the seat thing.

By the way, I went in to look at a Black 5-speed 4x4 regular cab Edge, which is about $800 more than the F150 XL Im looking at. Once I realized that the F150 actually gets the same gas mileage as that crap 3.0 V6, my attention quickly turned. I can't believe as weak as that 145 HP motor is it only gets 17/21 mpg.
Wow!! You later model guys are LUCKY!! This is what I got on my 98 XLT
An xlt without keyless entry
An xlt without a cd player
An xlt without overhead console
An xlt without leather wrapped wheel
I guess I should be happy with what I have, but those extra little options are nice ones to have!! And I did buy it used anyway, oh well.,,,,98

Mustang Envy....
....I got new seats installed which were not Ford seats. i don't know how important the XLT seat (in particular) is for you, but there are many options available out there for much less than you might anticipate. However, a word of caution, the XLT seats and the XL Bench actually used to have different brackets, and this makes the install more of a pain than many expect. If I were you, I'd check a non-dealer affiliated body shop or trim shops in your area. They've probably done it all and would be happy to do the work. Just a thought.
