carpet/floor mat cleaning

some of you may already know this but I found out a new way (for me anyway) to clean carpet areas in your truck. Usually when you look for carpet cleaning chemicals at pep-boys or auto-no-zone your overwhelmed with all sorts of brands claiming all sorts of things (and they all seem to smell real bad). I was at the dealership where I bought my used truck (they were putting in a bed linner) and I saw a guy cleaning my old floor mats in my convetible I traded in. He took a small scrub brush and sprayed 409 all over the carpet and scrubbed it in real good. He then took car wash cleaner (Turtle "emerald series") and scrubbed the mats with that (once mixed with water). Sure enough after he rinsed them off and hug them up to dry they were as clean as new. Just thought some of you would like to try it, its cheaper then buying carpet cleaner and you can use 409 for a lot other stuff.

I have used some stuff from Sams Club called NOW and it took some grease out of the floormats and carpet. When they are just dirty I will take them to the carwash and hang them up, spray them with soap real good and then rinse them off. I guess you will probably get about as many answers as there are people on this board. Whatever works...
