Hey everyone,

This may seem like a dumb question to some.....but hey, I'm not a mechanic !

My 98 F150XL came with what I think is the basic instrument panel.
It has speedo, gas, temp, oil, battery.

Can a instrument panel with a tach be installed easily or do I have to modify something.

I may be wrong but I imagine that there is probably just a single clip that has several wires just plugged into the back of the panel.
Kinda like a radio clip with several wires in it.

If so, does this clip (or whatever) have all of the wiring for other instruments ???

I may be way off....I don't know !

I have a 2000 XL and wanted to change it too. Your right it is just a chip, but I am not sure if the schematics give the tach a signal. Myabe you should get a wiring diagraham and look into it.
