You ever notice

You ever notice how dark the cab is at night.
I have a Super Cab Just the one Dome light I can never find a thing.
I went to the wrecking yard for some lights and found a few. Two for the front under the dash found them no problem. Now for the back doors it must look good and fit in the door.

GM make a model called Caviler this one was a convertible and in the rear armrests were the lights I have been looking for 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 grabbed the other stuff and now I want to show you one rear door Passenger side

Thank guys I will post the pictures when completed.
Its not that I don’t keep my truck clean inside.
I am taller than most when I move around in the truck all I get are shadows because the light is blocked. I’m 6'9 315 lbs of pure love and affectation

all trucks seem to be really dark at night, with the dome light on. GMCs are even worse.

Talking

Hey DogFace

I think they look pretty good. How tough were they to install and wire. It looks like you have quite a bit of experience with the electrical in your truck.

Do you figure a "NOVICE" can do this mod????

Project Complete

Well here it is completed wow what a difference the fronts are a little brighter than the back.
No covers for them I will try a different bulbs see what happens.
This project took about 12 hours not bad for finding the parts and modifying to fit the truck.
A "NOVICE" could do this mod I'm a novice I'll try anything.
The hardest part was

Cutting the holes in the rear panels I don't have a Dermal or variable speed cutter I used a drill with a 1/8 in bit cranked it up as fast is it would go followed the outline slow and even pressure worked for me.

Wiring went great on the back doors I took out the boot with speaker wires going through and ran two wires taped together through it.

On the cab side of the hole I didn't take the side panel off I pulled off the rubber seal fished the wires through with a coat hanger. (Between side panel and cab) Down to the kick panels

On both sides in the kick panels are Ground screws for the cab.
I grounded both lights for each side there.

Power wires to the lights I ran the drivers side lights over to the passenger side
On the way over I picked up a 12 volt fused wire from the engine compartment.

Passenger side it all comes together found a spot for a relay installed plug the wires in the relay and put in the fuse and the lights come on.

do these lights come on with the interior light or do they run from a different switch ? it looks like the picture is pretty dark other than where the light is so I thought you may have them on a different switch. You might try a red bulb if it's on a seperate switch so it wont ruin your night vision.
I've been thinking about trying to light up the cup holders in the console of my Screw with a couple of LEDs , someone else on here did it to the cupholder in the dash ... it looked pretty good... I also think it would be cool to back light the door handles with a LED. their is a little groove or indention on the back side of my door handles that would be a good place for it , just need to figure a way to mount and wire it . I might try to find a door handle assembly in a salvage yard to tinker with .

I tapped into dome light wire on the passanger side for the relay that i put in the kick panel .
The only switch is the dome light switch on the dash to make the interior light come on or open door, keyless entry.

Idea for interior lights

I had the same problem in my SCab. I took two of the rear lights form a SCrew/Excursion, and mounted them in the middle compartment of the overhead. Now I have map lights, and more overhead lights...was pretty easy to modify the overhead cover, and glue the lights in.

Here is the link to the photo of the led in the front doorhandles: https://www.f150online.com/galleries...ew.cfm?num=526

These were wired into the dimmer lights that are used on the power window switches. A Led was added to the rear door handle in a similar fashion mentioned above.

that LED in the door handle is EXACTLY what I want to do , same spot and everything ! you must have been reading my mind ! so how does it look at night ? does it light up the recessed area nicely ? was it pretty simple to do ? Are you the one who did this LED mod in the dash cup holder ?

LED's in door handle

Ok, The led in the handle is not hard, just tedious. It does light up the handle recess really good (couldnt be any better) The hardest part is drilling the hole in the handle, and routing the wire through it. If you want more detailed instructions, let me know, and I can write something up.

here is a pic of the overhead lights

The LED in the door handle is a nice idea I might try that did you take the handle out or drill in place.
