Finally painted my dash center
Okay, the color is starting to grow on me. I just sanded and primed the door switch plates. They are much easier to get smooth, only took about a half hour to sand both of them. I am stopping with the three pieces I have done already, don't want to go over the line, either.,,,,,98
This weekend I get to find out if it passes the sig. other test. If she hates it, I guess I'll be buying new dash and door pieces, lol!

That guy with the tailgate handles wrote me back takes 2 weeks $59 for locking and $69 for non locking plus 3 dollars shipping. You just place the order and he sends you one out in 2 weeks then if you send him your handle back he will send you a check for $7.50 for it. I think I will just paint mine myself. I already have all the paint and stuff and won't have to wait the 2 weeks.
,Here is the E-mail that I got from him seems more than fair and if I screw mine up I will go with him.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your inquiry about my color-matched tailgate handles.
To make you a custom Color-Matched Tailgate Handle I will
need to know your Paint Code and Locking or Non-Locking Style.
You can pay with either a BankCheck, Postal Money Order or
with PayPal.
These handles are hand-finished and the quality is first class.
I use the best quality paint materials. I use clear coat over the
finished handle. They are genuine Ford Handles. Their glossy
finish will look terrific for years to come.
I have found color-matching paint for most of the basic colors
of our F150 trucks from '97 through '02. Some colors are not
available yet .... like True Blue Metallic. However, I can have
it specially mixed. Cost for special colors: $40-$50 extra.
Please Note: The reason I can do this so inexpensively
is because my price is based on getting your core handle.
I will send you a check for $7.50 for your old handle. Just
ship it back to me in good condition, including the locking
"C" clip. Include your name and address and I'll send
you a check for your core.

Picture of Red Tailgate Handle (for aol users).
First, you will need to tell me your truck's exact Exterior Paint Code.
You'll find a small white sticker with your VIN Number and other
information. Down at the very bottom/left corner of the sticker is
abbreviated: Ext. Pnt. E4 (is my exterior paint code for my
Cardinal Red Pickup).
Please send the following information to the address below:
1. The model year of your truck: (2001)
2. The color of your truck: (Cardinal Red)
3. The Exterior Paint Code: (E4)
4. Choose Non-Locking Style (without a key-lock hole) . .$69.95 plus $3.50
5. Or, choose a Locking Style (with a key-lock hole) . . . $59.95 plus $3.50
6. Or, choose a Tailgate Handle Conversion from
Non-Locking to Locking Style. (Note: You will have
to take the new key-lock to your local locksmith and
have him key the lock to your ignition key). . . . . . . .$139.95 plus $4.95
Note: I about fell over when I found out Ford wants $12.50 more for the
non-locking handle, than for the locking style, with at hole. Go figure!!
It takes about 20 minutes to remove and replace the tailgate handle. I will include instructions that will make the job easy. The conversion from a non-
locking to a locking style handle is easy too.
I am doing this little business out of my garage as a hobby for my F150
and Lightning friends. Please allow two weeks for delivery, because I am
finishing these the hard way (by hand), and I have to wait for new handles
from Ford.
I accept good checks or use PayPal to: bvoyles@peoplepc.com Send
your order and check, along with a good shipping address to:

Crazed,
That what I am thinking. It should not be much of a problem. I mean I could always buy one from him if I had to. I think the next stuff to try is some plastic under the hood.

I don't know I am gonna just try it and see. as long as you don't actually try painting part of the motor itself I would think it would be fine. I see all kinds of people with painted plastic parts in the engine bays and it seems to hold up OK. I mean it's not hot enough for any of the plastic to melt or warp or anything so I can't see why paint would be any problem.
Nope, no paint on the door sills, even at 6' 1" I have to stand on them to wash the roof. I don't think any paint would hold up long under foot. I can't decide if I want anything painted under the hood, I'm thinking I will get a few billet pieces and leave it at that.,,,,98
Maybe a red top Optima battery?
