Getting rid of doggie odor
Getting rid of doggie odor
Just bought a nice used truck. Only problem is that the previous owners had a poochie and the interior of the truck smells like it!! Any suggestions on how to get rid of this?
First off, wipe down the interior. Then get yourself a hot water extraction carpet cleaner. Use a commercial product first, then use white vinegar (1 cup mixed in 1 gallon of hot water). Clean the carpets and upholstery if it's cloth. Do NOT clean the roof liner. If you do, the adhesive will fail and it will start sagging.
If that doesn't get rid of the odor, you'll have to borrow, rent, or buy an ozone generator. Put the generator in the truck with windows closed and a/c set to Max A/C with the fan on the lowest speed. Turn the ozone on for just a few minutes. Too much ozone will destroy rubber parts, so you don't want to over do it. Let it circulate for a while. Let the truck air out and check the results.
If you go the ozone route, read all the warnings. Too much ozone can send you to the hospital.

And, if it's a supercab, yank the backseat and clean in there. While recently installing my body lift, I discovered the previous owner left about a 4" X 1" layer of dog hair running the width of the cab that I couldn't see with the seat installed.
