Anybody reupholster their own seats?

Went to two different shops today and got bids to replace the driver seat bottom only for my truck. Came in at $425 and $385. FOR THE DRIVERS SEAT BOTTOM ONLY!

I can get the seat bottom on-line, but want to know what it takes to do the actual swap itself. I can handle getting the seat out and apart.

Any tricks or ideas?

I'm not sure what year you are driving, but I got a set of seats for the price they want to charge you for that lower covering. Ebay is your friend. If you have an 04-08, check these out:

Similar to what I bought

I have an 01 Screw. Is it possible to retrofit later model seats? From what I can tell the mounting points are different and of course it has it has the integral seat belt.

I've searched eBay and other places and every seat I see for an 01 is worn out or tired.

I can get a new seat bottom for $240 I think it is. I would need to fix a 2" hole in the foam on the left side with something.

I've been looking at seat covers as well. With my truck having 178k miles and me getting in and out eleventy billion times, the seat is tired. I thought a refresh and maybe seat covers would go a long way for looks and comfort.

Go to a fabric store and buy a chunk of high density foam and cut to to fit the hole. Coat with some spray adhesive and shove it in there and then put a seat cover on it and you wont be able to even tell
