Console to Jumpseat Conversion

There must be 1,000 threads on removing the jumpseat and installing a console... but I gotta be different.

When I bought my (used) '06, I tried to find a Lariat with the 40/20/40 but couldn't (found two, actually... both were 2WD and I wanted the 4x4)

Because I have 3 kids, I'd love to remove my console and replace it with the 40/20/40 seating... give us room for 1 more in a pinch.

I've read about a half dozen threads on pulling the jumpseat and putting in the console. That part looks simple enough (and there must be 1,000 jumpseats on ebay to choose from)...

... the tricky part's got to be replacing the factory automatic console shifter with a column shift.

Anybody got any advice?

Thanks Darren

I was fortunate to find one with the longer box as I'm in the middle of renovating an older house and it sure is nice to be able to fit some stuff in the box with the tailgate up (like a few 8' 2x4s on an angle).

I'm not sure I like the proportions of the 6.5 as much as the shorter box (on the Super Crews) but I think I'll hang onto it, for time being... unless I take bluejay's suggestion it'd be tough to fit the three monsters in the back of yours.

And where would we meet? Looks like Fargo ND is about half way... say... as long as you're on the way to Fargo... could you pick up my trailer in Indianna? (save me a few bucks on shipping)

did you ever figure out if this was something that could be accomplished without to much time, money and hassle?

i would love to get rid of the console, with the exception of the large storage area the other 80% of it is a complete waste of space.
