What the heck is this?

So I was bassin a bit... And I heard some rattling. I've noticed it before but never took the time to track it down..

I found out it's this thing.

It looks like some sort of vent. The flaps are bouncing around when the sub is turned up.

What is it? Any reason I need to leave it there?

cabin vent, dumps air out so heat or a/c can come in, or so you can shut the door without blowing the back glass out. I'm assuming that pic is behind the back seat.

Yes it is. Sorry I guess I should have mentioned that.

So, bad idea to seal that up? What about removing the flaps all together?

then when you're driving down the road and its raining out, you crack a window and it sucks all the rain in from outside due to the negative pressure in the cab. Leave them alone.

turn the fan on and they won't flap, positive pressure. Can you here them flap while driving?

Not at all. Just when I get out. It's a little annoying when I'm working on my truck with the radio on, windows down and/or doors open.

I always thought it was just my tool box, then I looked around.

u guess if it really drove you nuts u could try some foam or rubber strips to stop the slamming of the vents doors every time they close, but ya dont seal em off.
