Unhappy Water in the front interior lights.

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has had the problem of water getting into their front interior lights in a '04 or newer XLT Lariat. I am going to take a guess that it is getting in around the cargo light, this is the only place I can think of, and it is running down the inside to the wiring holes for the light....

Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Les.

This is actually a known issue with some 04's and there is a TSB about it but I don't know the fix sorry.

I would try searching on the 04's TSB's to find it, write down the TSB number and call your local Ford sealer and provide him the number so they know how to fix it right away.

More info is always better.

I checked the TSB's link on the top of this site and didn't find anything listed. Is there another site that lists them? Thanks.

Thanks

Thank You very much RollingRock for posting that information for me. When it gets a little warmer up here in Manitoba (-22 last night), I will take the brake light apart and have a look at it. I think I will go with some sealant to start with. Thanks again.

Ford has a redesigned light to fix this problem. The only way I know this is I discovered mine when I took my truck through a car wash last winter. It is about a $50 here in the states.

Reading some of the links that RollingRock left for me got me thinking. Everyone has water in the 3RD brake light or in the back seat, mine is coming out the front interior light. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they pin pointed the water coming in from somewhere else?

I never talked to my dealer yet, won't be back home for another 2 months.

Blister does your truck have the factory Sirius radio in it or a sun roof? If so one of those might be leaking. The other thing that might have happened is that the seal on you winshield may have failed for some reason. Or the previous owner had a satellite radio installed and the punched a hole through the urethane for the antenna. This by the way is a BIG no no.

No, I don't have a sun roof and no factory sat radio. I am wondering about the windshield seal also. I think it is still the factory windshield. I bought the truck used 2 years ago. I seem to have more trouble when snow melts on the roof than in the summer and rain, so I am thinking that contraction/expansion of the metal might make the leak worse in the winter.

Thanks.

Thanks

Just checked my windshield and it has been changed out before I got the truck, so it has to be the seal leaking.

I will get it to the shop when I get home in a couple of months and let them have a look at it. They are probably the ones that changed it the first time and they are buddies of mine.

Thanks for your help folks.
