Int. transformation has begun.
Int. transformation has begun.
I just started to change the int. color from the beige color that I never liked to black/charcoal. All the plastic panels are to be black with some charcoal accents. I'm using Duplicolors Vinyl and fabric paint. I'm thinking of charcoal for the carpet and suede head liner. The dash will get some carbon fiber overlays after the dash is painted. The seats will be recovered with black leather and charcoal suede inserts. Any advice and comments are welcome.

looking good, i strongly suggest you tint the windows and possibly get vent visors. The reason is too keep some hot sun out of inside and let you crack the windows a bit to let the heat out. All black interrior will get so hot you could literally cook food inside your truck. Like you said you plan to get leather, which will also cook pretty well, leather after all is animal skin...
also check out my post if you have trouble on the dashboard theres some very helpful pics.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it so far. To answer all the ?s, The paint is very easy to use as long as you prep it real good. It holds up to scratches pretty good unless you scratch it kinda hard. I'm always taking my tools in and out of the back seat area and hit the door once, but all it took was a little more paint and the scratch is gone. As far as the tint, they are tinted. The drivers side window is down. You may not have noticed Phoenixx, I do live in Phoenix, AZ. I know all too well what the summer heat can do. There's no way I would ever go without window tint. I'm taking my time with this so the truck gonna look a little strange for a while but once it's done, it should look cool, (I hope).

I HAVE ALSO DONE THIS TO THE INTERIOR BUT USED KRYLON INTERIOR/ EXTERIOR PAINT. THE ONLY PLACE THAT IT HAS REALLY PEALED OR CHIPPED IS WERE THE KEYS CONSTANTLY HIT AROUND THE STEERING WHEEL. I TRIED TO CLEAR COAT A PIECE BUT THE CLEAR COAT RUINED THE PAINT AND I HAD TO START ALL OVER ON THAT PIECE. ABOUT HALF OF THE DASH IS DONE AND ALL THE DOORS. I HAVE ALL THE PICS IN MY PHOTO GALLERY. NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH THE REST OF THE DASH. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

but besides that, automotive paint/clear is the only thing that wont chip like that. which is what I did to mine. I'm considering painting my door panels now...
can anyone do a write up on prepping plastics for paint?
in the past i would sand primer and paint.
was this right. i didnt have good results! i can pull everything out of the truck thats not a problem! and when i tried to clear coat everything it messed up everything the clear coat touched!
