My best friend did this on his Ranger 2 years ago and it still looks great today. He has touched up the panel that is under your feet as you get in and out (scurr plate?) but that's it.

Also, I recommend the use of Bullydog Adhesion Promoter first, followed by I believe SEM fabric and vinyl paint. that is what he used and couldn't be happier.

I too am in the midst of a conversion on my 2006 Focus from grey to black, and I have most of it done. Problem is, I can't finish until I add the fiberglass pods in my doors for my new 7 inch drivers but I will post some pics when doen.

The Duplicolor vinyl & fabric doesn't require any primers or adhesive promoters. According to the guy @ Shermin Williams auto paint store, BTW SW makes Duplicolor paints, this paint has the adhesive promoter already in it. I also checked out Dups web site and they said the same thing. And you know, I always believe what strangers tell me LOL. Any way, it's working fine. No scratches to date, easy to use, looks pretty darn nice IMHO. The gloss was too much though. The flat is what you see in my pics at the beginning of this thread. It looks more like a satin, just the right amount sheen. I start the dash in the AM, wish me luck.

Where did you get that!? I've been looking for little accent parts for my dash etc. in carbon fiber, but this looks sick. It'd go great with my black interior plus my truck is DSG. It would match everything.

if you are using a rattle can let the base coat sit for about a week or so then you should be ok to let it clear, depending on the temps the base coat dried in. warm = shorter cold = longer

Finally finished the dash board yesterday. All went pretty good and only 1 odd screw left over. Not bad for me. Check out the pics in my gallerie.

Thats an excellent job man. Did you have any trouble wth the top piece on the passenger side cracking when you put it back in? What did you do for the rest of the dash, Tape everything off and paint it inside the truck?

Nope, no problems at all. The rest of the dash stayed in the truck so I had to mask off the wind shield & cover all the other parts I didn't want painted. Not very hard at all. Thanks.

Well the next step is to decide which dash overlay to go with. Should it be, carbon fiber, or brushed aluminum, or black burlwood. Any thoughts? Any pics? Let me know, thanks.

I'm wanting to know really badly where he got his dash overlays from, but looking online I was able to come across this. I'm not sure about the price though, so I am really interested in what his response will be as to where he got his from and how much he paid for it.

And yes, they do have them in carbon fiber.
I know it may be a dumb question, but is carbon fiber automatically "black" b/c they had other color options for carbon fiber but not black (but the first one that did not have a specific color next to it and was just simply listed as "carbon fiber" appeared like it could be black from the little pic that the put next to the option to choose it), or would I have to paint the carbon fiber black to get that look?

For those of you who go to the link and see what I'm talking about, the one that I am referring to is option "P4".

Thanks guys!

Has anyone tried to paint on a brushed aluminum look. I saw on t.v., a guy painted his car to look like that, turned out real nice. He painted on a silver color and brushed it out with a scotch bright pad. I wonder if that would work with some of the dash pieces. I'm thinking, a few coats of primer, then wet sand, 2-3 coats of base, then wet sand, then clear & more wet sanding. Possible?
