Question Leather Care

I have a 06 Lariat SuperCrew, and was wondering if anyone knows of any real good leather cleaning/care products. I plan on keeping my truck for a long time and want to keep my leather looking as good as possible and make it last as long as possible. Thanks for your input!

I hope they chime in because I will be needing this also.. In the past I used the Armorall Leather products but they didn't seem to help much

Yeah it seems like the armorall products make it look better for now, but I think they actually dry out the leather over time and will destroy it if you use it enough!

I have leather seats in mine as well, and I did on my previous truck. I have always used Maguires or Mothers. The Maguires smells really good too. The spray is better than the pour stuff. You can also find it in wipes. Never had a problem with it. This is a brand a lot of people with hot rods use, and they are REAL picky about their vehicles. Just my opinion, I like Maguires, I believe it is leather cleaner/conditioner, in a black spray bottle. Good Luck

I use Maguires and it works. I have used Armorall and I do not recommend it because it did more harm than good (dries it out).

I use the Maguires 2 step process. It is 2 bottles, 1 is a gel like clearner and the other is a liquid conditioner. Found it at Autozone.

I am glad you asked this question. I was calling around today to see what detailers recommended and they all said Maguires, but I was scared it might dry out my leather like Armoral.

I use Meguiar's also and I think what really makes it work is saddle soap[thats what it smells like to me]. Saddle soap was the thing to use years ago on all leather.

Adam's Polishes has a good leather conditioner. I use it a bunch and it seems to work really good. Also they have a leather cleaner spray. Haven't tried that though.

Has anyone tried just plain mink oil? The shoe guy I use says it is great on leather and keeps it from cracking like you see on older cars with leather.

This is what I have learned from cleaning leather seats. Meguairs makes a good product and I have used it. However, the bad thing about the cleaners mentioned above is the cleaner and conditioner is all in one. The best thing I have found is the leather cleaner you buy at a furniture store. The cleaner is separate from the conditioner. There is a drastic difference in appearance when you clean the leather with the furnitures store brand. Bad thing is it is quite expensive!!! The cleaner is about $10 bucks for about 1/2 of what you get in a Meguairs bottle and the conditioner is about $25 for that same amount. But it is a big difference in the look and feel after using this product!! Two step process as well.

I use Meguiars leather cleaner too. I've only had my truck (07) for about a month now but this is what I've been using

I use Zaino Z-10. It smells just like leather and conditions really well too. Duragloss 221 is great too. Cleans really well. Smells like leather too, but not as good as the Zaino. Duragloss is great stuff and it can be found at CarQuest and NAPA Auto. Lexol is good and can be found all over.
