my power mirrors seem to work when they want to. the left will move left but not right, down but not up. my right mirror will move right but not left, and down but no up. should i start with the switch in the door or at the motor in the mirrors???

I have bumped mine and made the teeth skip that move the mirror. The motor only has so much movement, when the motor isn't correct to the mirror it will max out before the mirror does. I pushed on it and they skiped back to where it would work right, probably not the best way to fix it but it worked.

If that doesn't fix the mirrors then I would be leaning towards a new switch. Very easy to change. Bought one about 2 months ago from the dealer. About $45

I had a similar problem with my mirrors. I was advised to get some electrical cleaner ($5 at any auto parts store), pop out the switch and clean it thoroughly. It took about 15-20 minutes and my mirrors have worked fine since.

 

I had issues to. I just pulled the switch out, disassembled it, and cleaned the contacts with a pencil eraser ala slot cars.
