Angry Chewing gum

I just found a piece of used gum between a childs car seat and fabric of the back seat. It is smeared and inbedded in the seat fabric. How can I remove this mess, thanks.

STEP 1: Note that the following steps work for fabric or vinyl upholstery, not leather. STEP 2: Place an ice cube in a plastic bag. STEP 3: Apply the ice to the gum, allowing the gum to freeze until quite hard. STEP 4: Gently scrape away the gum with a dull knife.

Ice cube or that container of air cleaner like for keyboards. Anything that will freeze the gum. You will have to scrape it with a butter knife or something like that just nothing too sharp don't cut your seat. Good luck!

As a military school kid...I know how to clean, and the best way to get gum off fabrics is to freeze them. I do not suggest the air-can (sorry TomT) just because that stuff can leave a mark on carpets etc. so I am guessing it will leave a mark on the seat as well. Try freezing it, and then going over it with a vacume (sp) cleaner (the little head that comes with them for stairs and stuff.) if that does not work, try a drop of goof-off on the gum (DROP not Squirt) and rub it into the gum. It will then loose its goish features and rub off (this one gets tricky so only do it as a last resort)

If the ice cube doesn't freeze it well enough, check around for a janitorial supply store, they sell cans similar to the air duster stuff that was mentioned earlier but they're made specifically for freezing gum and won't leave any residue or spots.

I've been able to get gum out doing just what the others here have mentioned, but I cranked it up a bit and used "dry ice" (frozen c02) in a ziploc bag and held with an oven mitt so I didn't freeze my fingers off. Don't sweat it if you can't get all the gum in the first pass with the scraper. The important thing is to keep re-applying and re-freezing until you get it all. I used a spoon to do the scraping. Good Luck !
