Cup Holder

Ok since I have been posting some engine related questions I thought I would finally post one on the thing that has nagged me for a while. A while back I went to open the cup holder on the dash and pushed on it and it did not spring out. I can open it though, I have to push in on it and then pull it out. Anyone know the trick at getting the cup holder all the way out to see what might be the problem? Is it as simple as the spring has gone bad or gotten out of aliment (I am assuming there is a spring of some sort back there)?

I never had the problem but I thing the springs/reflexing things that are back there have failed & need replaced or fixed. I just went out and took a look at mine, I would say once you have it out, unplug the light cord thats in there, them feel the sliding rails and try to pull the plastic sliders out a little and have a friend try to pull it out.

I fixed my cupholder. I had the same issue. I heard it break and no more pop out. There are two rails on the top of the cup holder that you can see with it open. You need to depress the two plastic contacts on the cupholder itself (they grab onto the stoppers anchored to the dash) and pull out the cupholder. Once you get it out, you'll be able to see the problem. As mentioned, just be careful of the light. You can disconnect that although you might not need to. Just don't yank too hard. In my case the metal spring board piece had disconnected from the worthless glue or adhesive they had used. I tried gorilla glue and super glue to no avail. I resorted to just using two small screws in the locations where the glue points were. Works like a champ and there's no chance of it coming off again. Hope this helps. Good luck.
