Driver seat discomfort

I have a 2004 F150 FX with split seat and cloth cover. This is the most uncomfortable seat I have had in any Ford I have had or have. The foam is to dense and the seams runs down the center of my legs there is a big ball or knot under right leg. I am going to have seat redone at local shop. Has anyone else had a issue with this seat, I have 10000 miles and have not got use to it. We have a 85 Ranger, 99 F350. 90 F50 flatbed and Escape and 2003 Goldwing all these have better seats.

Yeap, I agree. I have a found these to be the most hard, unforgiving, non-cheek conforming, butt abusive, flat, seat in any vehicle I have ever owned. I wish I could find a set of Recaro Bucket seats like Ford installed in my 04 SVT Focus that would fit the F-150 at a reasonable price.
As an example of the discomfort, I have found out all of the above in less than 500 miles.

believe it or not, when I was test driving 05's before I bought my XL, I drove the XL with the cloth seats, and also the "work truck group" with the vynil seats, I found the vynil seats a little more comfortable, so bough it, and I got a 1000 discount for that and a couple other things (non-chrome bumpers mainly).

but still, they are not comfortable by any means. I am driving up to savannah next weekend and am dreading it

same problem

I have a 2004 STX and have the same problem with the driver side seat. sometimes no problems, but most of the time I get out of the truck and I feel very old with a back ache. Maybe the Ford people will fix this.

Ford give ith and Ford Take ith away...with all the improvement's in the 04+ comfort and quality were removed...quality of seat fabric (XLT same as XL ) is poor, I like my duct tape seat covers..

My grandfather just bough a 04 with the 60/40 bench cloth seats in florida and we drive it back up to Mass last spring. I have to say that we both agreed that they were the MOST COMFORTABLE seats in any vehicle either of us have driven. I have his former truck (98XLT with buckets) and again, be both agree that new new seats are far superior to the old ones. I'm 21y/o and 5'7", my grandfather is 65y/o and 6'5" and the seats fit us both like a glove. 24hr drive and seats were very supportive and neither of us had any back pain or anything. Maybe my grandfather's truck is special? lol

Seat comfort is subjective. My 04 FX does not have power seats so I installed spacers under the 2 front rail brackets to lift the front of the seat a bit. It made a huge difference in comfort. I rather like the course fabric. Ford is a bit inconsistent with seat comfort. My 97 Mustang had very nice, butt conforming seats, but my 02 Escape is like a wooden bench.

I agree with most of you that the seats a pretty uncomfortable. I have a 05 FX4 w/ buckets. It originally came with cloth seats. My girlfriend and I were always adjusting and complaining about the seat comfort. We did a 12 hour trip last summer and it was rough. A couple months ago I did the ebay oem leather swap, and let me tell you, its so much better. You wouldn't think it cause the foam is the same, but it is. I feel so much more support. The girlfriend even commented on that she doesn't find the seats uncomfortable anymore. And the added bonus, they look so much better.

My '04 supercab Lariat w/capt. chairs was the worst Ford seats I ever had. I had previously owned 97,98,2000 & 2002(all w/capt.) & they were very comfortable. I now have '06 supercrew Lariat w/capt., & they are a great improvement, but still not as good as 2002. Don't get it?

put a levelling kit in and you'll be far more comfortable

you might say i'm crazy but i hated the nosedive of my '04 fx-4 since i bought it. i drove it 500 miles one day is felt great when i got out of it. but honestly since i put the front end levelling kit, 2.5" daystar the truck so much more comfortable. i don't feel like i'm leaning forward anymore. the seats are firm but at least they should last a good long time.

I just got back this morning from about a ~2000 mile trip up to west virginia and back, and my butt is numb from the experience.

I got to do something about this, its just not cutting it

Niterider, I also noticed that the seating seemed to be more comfortable after I leveled the front of my supercrew 4x4.

Maybe your seats are uncomfortable because your wallets are toooo thick.
