Exclamation Dashboard imprints, how to remove them?

Maybe one of you can give your advice. I have an 02 Mountaineer/Explorer. The dash board does give when you press on it hard, like a soft rubbery feel, not that hard plastic that does not give at all.

Underneath the passengerside airbag, is about a one inch "indent" where looks like someone has pushed something hard againest the dash, and it has an indent in that spot. Right now if I were to touch that spot, it feels very soft and can easily press that area in, but it will not pop back out into place.

Most people would not even know its there, but me knowing its there bothers me. Is there a way to push that indent back out and make it flush again with the rest of the dash?

You can remove every thing behind and under the dash so that you can get to the other side of the spot. Take a small body hammer are if you do not have one, a ball peen hammer will suffice, and give it three good whacks from the reverse side. Should take care of it, but if you are too agressive, you may need a tap or too on the outside to even it up. Then replace everything back under the dash and you will be ready to drag anything that needs dragging without being irratated by the spot.

I guess this is the last time you've bought a used vehicle from John Holmes.

You can try a heat gun and apply a little heat on it. Careful not to get it to hot though.
