Leather seat question (help)
Leather seat question (help)
I have dark gray leather seats that are showing a lot of ripples and what looks like crack marks, but aren't really cracks. As you press down on the seat with your fingers, the driver and passenger side seats feel very weak when you press down on the leather, almost to the point where I'm afaird to press all that hard or I'd put my finger through the seat. The back seats are in good shape since they don't get used as much.
My question is, how do I protect the seats from anymore wearing? I think the main cause is from sliding and and out of the truck. Do I just put down a blacket on the seats, will that protect it from rubbing anymore?
I brought it used just a few months ago, its 2002 with just 40K on it with just a powertrain warrenty. Since I brought it, every week I put down a leather conditioner that the dealer gave me to protect the leather, but I don't know if I'm helping it or making it worse.
Any info would help, how do stop the wearing before it gets to late and before the seats get torn or crack?

You're only supposed to use the leather conditioner once every 6 months. Too much oil in the leather will collect dirt and make them look dingy.
Like a leather jacket, the seats will break in and get ripples. They should still be sound if they were taken care of. If you're worried, use a seat cover. Replacing the leather isn't that big a deal. The local places will replace the leather and install new foam in a captain's chair for $300.
