Vibration in rear seat of 2005 Supercab
Vibration in rear seat of 2005 Supercab
I bought a 2005 F-150 XLT extended cab about a month ago. I have noticed an irratating rattle in the rear seating area along the rear wall and can't find it. Last night I removed the rear seat and felt liner behind the rear seat, and still couldn't find the rattle. Anyone else having this problem?
This may not help you, but I thought I had the same thing, but found out it was the roof liner bouncing making the noise. At first I thought it was the seat too, or door. Hope you find the noise.
Same thing in my '05. Ford dealership has a service Bulletin on this noise. they have a shim kit for the headliner that takes about 4 weeks to get in. mine came in yesterday and they are putting it in today. I'll let you now if it stops the rattle.

I was able to fit the headliner "thump" noise myself. I removed the dome light and to the right and left of the opening are two foam blocks that rest against a crossmember above them. I put some heavy duty double-sided tape between the blocks and crossmember. Voila! No more noise.
I decided to do this myself since I brought my truck to the dealership and gave them the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) number for the fix. They still held my truck for 3 hours just to tell me that they needed to order the parts for the fix. That and the fact that they told me that it would take all day for them to install the fix. To this day (3 weeks later) I haven't heard from them.
I'm glad that I was able to fix it myself! The hardest part is taking the dome light out without breaking it!
