Dealer Detail
does anyone know what product a ford dealer uses when they detail a car to be sold. I just purchased my 99XLT a month ago and the product they used is starting to fade off.

I wonder if your other 500 and some posts are as brilliant as this one. If you can not help some one, why do you bother and post a brainless comment like this. This board is not for people like you who can not help out fellow members. So keep your unintelligent comments to your self!

MJL,
My dealer uses a quick coating of NuFinish to get the grime off and the shine on. He also uses the Ford wax, but NuFinish is faster and seems to give a great luster for him.

Years ago when I worked in a dealership we used a product called "Butter Wax". It was a real thin yellow compound in a little tub just like margarine comes in. It went on easy, came off easy and gave the finish a quick shine. We mainly used it in detailing used vehicles. The bad part is it only lasted a week or so, it was made for the quick shine and not durability. Hope they still don`t use this stuff of course it was in a "Chevy" dealership that went belly up after 19 yrs.

Yikes! Actually the other "500 and some" aren't as brilliant, the subtlety and eloquence of this post was a source of great pride to me.
So MJL, after 6 weeks and 6 posts you believe you what this board is all about? If you'd bothered to look around a bit you may have noticed something that most members share called a sense of humor. That, by the way, was called sarcasm; since you missed it the first time I thought I'd point it out. This place is not your personal encyclopedia, it's a place to share ideas, personalities and attitudes, and in the process help each other. If you don't understand that, too bad. If you were offended by my first post or this one, well ... too bad.
If you'd payed attention to the 11 words I carefully picked out you would have noticed that I DID answer your question, but since I'm in a good mood I'll elaborate on the above "brainless ... unintelligent post": While a very small number of dealers actually take the time to wax a new vehicle, most dealers don't use ANYTHING, JUST SOAP AND WATER. Get it?
I hope Raoul never answers one of your posts, you'll probably be so offended you'll sick a lawyer on him, and in the process orphan a herd of perfectly nice goats.

Actually Indyfan is right.
I watched my Expy get done right in front of me and all they did was wash it. It was part of a tent sale in the middle of a corn field full of dust. I watched them take off the protective plastic inside and out, wash vacuum and remove a small mark on the headliner. They hit the wheels with the tire shining stuff and that was it.

MJL, If that stuff only lasted a month then I would try finding/using something else. My little brother detailed cars for several years at a Chevy dealer. I asked him what he used to clean the interior and he told me a wet chamois. For some of the used cars they did use some kind of blue protectant that smells really good, but I can't remember the name of it.
Right on, IndyFan!!!!
