Talking Got my Expy console....Now....

Hey, BlueFlareside or others that have installed the Expy console in their 150's. Got a question, how and what did you use to remove or hide the surface scratches on your console?(assuming you had any) Mine came in a true 6 or 7 on a scale of 10 as Darin at LWM informed me. All the parts are here and it's gonna take a few hours to disassemble, clean and reassemble the console. My fear is there are some substantial scratches and abrasion on parts of the console that are going to be tough to correct. Any advise as to process or procedure to use? Someone on one of the posts mentioned a product Ford used to rid plastic dash boards of scratches, but can't find the post. The color is a slight shade off from the gray in the truck, but I think a good cleaning should minimize or correct that image. Any help you guys can provide will surely be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My scratches were very minor and a good cleaning and Armor All'ing made it look like brand new.

The scratches would be different than dash scratches because the plastic is actually that color, not painted. I have a couple of small dash "dings" on the darker color, which is painted (the plastic is black underneath) and I am going to go to Ford to see if they have any touch-up paint.

I guess is you could find the right color paint you could fill the hole with epoxy or a plastic filler then paint it?!?

Not sure. Good luck,

Steve

Has anyone asked how to get a "10"??? I did not know they had a ranking system when I got mine but I guess mine would be a 6 or 7.

My console was not a "10". It had grass and rust on the brackets! Cleaned up wonderfully and did'nt have any scratches. I guess I got lucky. And ironically, the factory console was full of holes from the previous owners mounted toy's, whatever they may have been. Happy Holidays, Dennis.
