Post is it alright to hose out inside of truck

In have a vinyl liner instead of carpet. I have been hosing it out when it gets dirty. The water drains fine, however on the passenger side I do hear some sloshing around of water when I drive. This usually happens for a few days then goes away. I dont want to start rusting anything out. Is this safe?

I think you pretty much answered your own question if you can hear sloshing for a couple of DAYS. It's not a Jeep, so unless you're prepared to take it apart and dry it thoroughly I wouldn't do it again.
In fact you should probably take it apart and look for water damage.

If you hose-out cabs with vinyl liners instead of carpeting, you might hear water sloshing around the passenger side for a few days.

It may even result in some rusting.

Try using 409 and a scrub brush, works wonders
then use a wet towel to wipe the foam out
of the floor mat. It'll look great and you
will cut down on the sloshing and possible rust problems. I used to do this for a work
truck I drove for a stereo store. You can
even spray a tire protectant on it to stop
the dirt from sticking to it.

Red face

The vinyl liner has a soft fiber backing (same for carpet) that is used for sound and thermal insulation (plus providing a cushion). This stuff (about 1/2 thick) will absorb water like a sponge. If not allowed to properly dry (out of the vehicle), mildew will form (along with rust on the floorpan). Go ahead and pull up a corner of the mat. Ill bet that it stinks like hell.

Thumbs down

I had the pleasure,or lack thereof, of drying out several mercedes cars after a
flash flood here in Houston.. The stink was sickening.pee eww! especially after
they sat for a couple of days in the heat and humidity with the windows up. buy a
new mat or take out the one you have and
let it dry out in the sun for few days. taking
it in at night. The sun is amazing at killing
bacteria and other smells.

On the Passenger side UNDER the vinyl in the floorboard is a rubber grommet that you can remove to allow the water to drain quickly. I've never hosed it out but I will use a wet towel to wipe the vinyl with then I hit it with armor all for that Show Room Shine. Works for me

Thanks CCLA. I will take a look at that today. For all the other replies Thanks, however I dont have a odor problem except when I leave my grass cutting shoes inside the cab, then I have a funk problem. I use armor all after I hose it out. The driver side drains really fast, its just the passenger side. I will continue to hose out as this is quick, unless I see some rust.
