Keys hitting the dash
Does anyone else have the problem of their keys swinging back and forth hitting the dashboard and making an annoying sound?
Anyone found a way to fix this problem?

How about a smaller key chain......I have a set of keys with about 30 keys, I put my vehicle keys on seperate key rings with the slip release mechanism(all the key and lock shops have them)so I can detatch them from the master key ring and not have 5 pounds of keys hanging from the ignition. I've been using these for 10 to 15 years and have only had one of them break.

You may not like my solution, but I have the keyless entry fob and I use only my trucks key on it. I have another keychain with all other keys I need. No problems with noises or banging on knees.

Right now I have truck, keyless entry fob, alarm system fob, locking gas-cap, bed tool-box key PLUS the variety of keys for my 5th wheel trailer all on the same ring.
They bang on my dash and my knee.
One of these days, I'm gonna get organized and have two big rings. That way only half my keys will bang my knee and dash...

The keys aren't usually a problem, however when i come to a bump or railroad tracks, i hold the keys to prevent them from swinging. Not related to keys, when i get in my truck, my left kneee bangs into the dash where the light switch is. Hate long legs.

Same problem. Was thinking of putting a small piece of colored felt on the spto on the dash.
Right now I just hold the key chain over the bumps.

both my truck and motorcycle key are on separate key rings. one key on one ring = no noise and no scratches. haven't lost em yet although i do keep spares in handy places. ever since i locked my keys in my car at work while it was running.

I didn't wise up about the big key chain issue until I'd already messed up the finish on the dash (keys hitting and scratching) So now I have a key ring with only the truck and house key. The big key ring, with keys that I dont even remember what they fit, are in my purse. The added weight makes my purse a letheal weapon
Try my solution to the noisy keys. I just lean forward a little bit, rest my right arm on my right leg, and hold my keys with my right hand. This solves two problems. First the keys no longer make noise. Second, my hand has something to do.

I'm with the masses that only use one key per key chain (the ones that slip apart). On one end I have the remote entry button and truck key. The other end the house key. Doing this eliminates that annoying key jingle. I hate stuff rattling and sliding around in the truck. Its only OK if you're off wheelin'.

Good, I am not the only one this happens to. I put just the ignition key on a little ring that releases from the rest of my keys. I used one of the little metal release things, where you push the end in and it separates. I leave the full key section in the cup holder and just the ignition key is in the ignition. That was my easy cure.

I have 5 keys on one ring with no problems.
The trick is to use ONE ring instaed of linking 50 rings together.
BTW I also have long legs 6'3" and have yet to hit my knee.
Just move the seat a little further back.

Well I only have have 3 keys and the remote keyless thing on my key ring and have no problem of keys hiting the dash and I have yet to hit my leg on the dash as well and I'm 6 foot tall.

How come some of you are complaining about long legs and hitting the dash when I'm 6'9" and NEVER hit the dash of my regular cab. Do you all have really short arms or what?! Slide the seat back......Doc
