Question 2000 Carpet and Seats

My Dad bought a 2000 XLT last month.
I've got a '99 Sport and noticed that the 2000's carpet and seats aren't as thick as my '99's.

Has anyone else noticed?

F150Sport,

Did your Dad get the Sport as well? I don't like the new fabric they use on the Sports for 2000! I haven't had mine side by side with a 2000 to do that close of a comparison, but the two big obvious things that turned me off on the 2000 XLT Sport was the new (cheap looking IMO) seat fabric and the flip up as opposed to the flip forward rear seat (on all 2000 S/C models)! I am SOOO glad I found my 99 when I did! I don't think I would be happy with the 2000! Just my opinion, I'm not dissing the folk who have 2000's, I do like the leather wrapped steering wheel and overhead console!!!

You should compare 97 Lariat to a 00, man you talk about cheap interior.
To start the back flip seats, look like they came out of a "rice burner" and the carpet is terrible and the leather seats have carpet on the backs and the leather I believe is Cat hide, get real, and yes the arm rests are too short.
I believe that with what Ford has out on the market today, we could get a choice of top line radios and climate control. Looks like ALL quality is going into SUV..

The only GOOD thing I can say is those BFG Long Trails T/As do a hellva job in 20" of snow.

Red face

I have a '97 Lariat, I thought the int. in it was cheap! My buddy just got his 2000 Lariat so we did a little side by side comparision. Gone are the usefull large door handle loops (it looks like they are now using the old XL door panel), the carpet is very thin, the leather seats are worse than mine (and mine are CRAP). The back seat flip up??? OK, who's little brainchild is this??? Tall clearance was never an issue for me, and that seems to be the only advantage (carpet to headliner clear area). My flip down makes a useful area for big expensive items.
I really like the 2000's overhead console and the 4 doors! Other than that, Ford is heading in the wrong direction! Hey Ford... We said the int. sucked and wanted something better!
Please don't think I'm flaming any 2000 owners it just seems that all that money should buy more that paper thin leather "Seating surfaces" and POS vinyl rear seats and seat backs!
Thoses are my thoughts... not your
Bruce
