Question Leather Seat Wear

This is my very first post here and I see that I am posting to a question that is
months old. I have a 1998 Lariat that the front section of the leather seats have very fine wrinkles. It looks like crap. I have treated them and it really isn't a matter of the leather ever getting dry ... it is just rippled right under where your legs rest. I was thinking of getting some opinions from experts and then talking to the Ford dealer about repair or replacement under warranty. Has anyone had this happen to their seats?? My truck only has 11K miles on it and I don't think that this is normal wear. Thank you for any comments that you may have ... it will only spur me on to babble endless streams of questions and comments ... hehe .. sorry ..

Thanks
Happy to Drive a FORD
Looks Great ... Runs even Better

I have thos fine wrinkles in my seats. I'd like to think they add character to the truck

No really, they aren't that noticeable. I think thats from my monthly conditioning routine. Every month whether they need it or not.

Anyone else out there with leather, you can't treat them too much!

Hey kkirt1 ....

Thanks for the speedy reply ... I guess I am just a bit too picky ... I will try to think of those wrinkles .. as I do with the ones on my face ... as in "giving me more charactor" as you have suggested. I am having a good time with my truck, and should just relax and save the relationship with my service department for when those pistons start a slappin ... I need to post to that topic too.

Thanks again

Russ

leather does not last long longer than cloth

the cracks will just get bigger and then it will rip! no ammount of care will prevent that! I had mine replaced under wrranty, does not hurt to ask.

I dont think that last statement is true. I would say that leather wears differently than cloth but having fine wrinkles in the leather does not always translate into rips

I just find it amazing that you have a 98 with 11K miles on it. That's like 3 miles a day for the last 10 years.

I have the same issue with my 03 lariat, I don't think there is really anything that can be done. If you find a solution though, let us know.

OOPs, just noticed that the original post is 9 years old... LOL

it does wear differently I just wish it lasted longer than cloth, witch is much cheaper to replace. the ford factory leather was sub standard in 98, and had ford replace the passenger side of the split bench seat due to it being too thin. I have a 98 f150 with 80k and took care of interior and exterior with the best of products on a regular basis including garaged at all times. now I have to replace drivers side due to cracks turning into rips and then large gaps. just wait and see.
