'05 150 headliner bounce

Just bought '05 Lariat w/moonroof. Love it!! Got what I consider to be a problem. When I'm going over small bumps in the road the dome light and headliner bounce off the roof...seems like a lot of play...and makes a thumping noise.....very aggrevating....anyone experience this problem....I'll be bringing it back to the dealer for the 3000 mile check and I was going to bring it up to them at that time. Anyone have the same problem?

Thanks

I have the exact same problem....I thought Id never find someone with the same prob. I also have the moonroof and can hear the "rattling". Some one said there was a block of something between the headliner and the roof, and you can see it if you peel the strip off a bit and look in under the sunroof. I never saw it though. 2004 F-140 Lariat "Texas Ranch" 4x4

Yep, me too. Going to wait a month or two to see if any other problems pop up before going to the dealer.

I think i have the same problem..If i hit small bumps there is no noise. I i hit a pothole or series of bumps i hear a rattling from the rear and i cannot pinpoint where it is coming from.Almost sounds like hitting cardboard 3 or 4 times consecutively.I am going to have to get my wife to drive my truck (god help me) while i sit in the back to listen for it..I have FX4 supercrew with moonroof...

Ill post what I know....I got this tip from Ford Truck World.....when you go over the bump, press the roof up 6 inches behind the sunroof and it wont make the sound, if you dont have a S-roof, press where you think it would be, and the sound is gone....apparently something in the roof is loose.

Yes....it took me awhile to pinpoint it also. After making sure that there was nothing in the backseat and that all of the seat belts were in a secure position I narrowed it down. I watch the dome light in the rear view and could see it going up and down as I went over some bumps. When I held it up with one hand the noise would stop as previously stated. I'm sure thats what it is.

Actually it doesn't seem to me that there is something loose up there....it seems as though the headliner / domelight is hitting whatever it is thats above it...like there roof..i guess. Look in your rear view when driving next time...if yours is like mine you'll notice an excessive amount of up and down movement. I'm going to go see the dealer next week instead of waiting. I'll let you know.

New find....since I have a sunroof I can see whats in there...its a thin layer of something between the liner and the roof....I tried to stick paper towels in to support it..but the gap is too small to reach into....

I had a similar situation in my '02 SCab. My auto interior guy fixed it up for me for about $15. My headliner and sunglass/ garage opener holders had a lot of slop and would bounce up and down about an inch. We loosened the headliner and took out the sunglass thing and he stuck some velcro tape up in there. Now the sunglass holder and headliner are secure to the roof of the truck without flopping around. If I ever need to access anything in there (like the wiring or display for the outside temp/ compass), I can still pull them down easily and then the velcro will let me stick them back up in place when I reassemble.

My '05 w/sunroof is going into the dealer Monday for same problem. Dome light fixture bounces against some roof structure part making the noise. Will let you know if they fix it.
