how to remove ink from back of cloth seat?
how to remove ink from back of cloth seat?
anyone have any luck with removing ink? i seem to have about a 3" pen mark, black ink on grey seat.
not sure what to try to scrub it with, or how much scrubbing the backsides can take, doesn't appear to be as tough of a cloth as the fronts.
i did scotchgaurd the thing 6 months or so ago, maybe that will help.
Thanks

Blue Magic Carpet Stain and Spot Cleaner will most likely remove it. Saturate the inked area and blot, in a circular pattern. Be sure to reapply the scotchguard after removal.
Blue Magic is available at most 'Mart' stores including AutoZone and Wally-World I believe.

One additional hint... do it on a day where you can sit the truck outside and roll all the windows down. The Blue Magic product has a heavy ammonia smell and thus, I wouldn't want the truck to have to sit with the windows up. Just FYI.

I've also heard that this is a good trick however, I've never tried it because of 'how' it works. You see, the propellants that are in the hairspray are solvents. These are very fast-acting, fast-evaporating solvents that will generally work like degreaser on an oily engine. They work on the hydrocarbon bonds and thus, remove the stain.
The draw-back of this is, not only the hairspray scent in your vehicle but, a generally 'stiff' and potentially 'sticky' spot on your seat.
Am I off-base for worrying about the stick or scent?

If you hit it with the hairspray, soft bristle brush it a little, and then rinse it with water. Any residue left by the hairspray should be removed by the water. The alcohol in the hair spray will play hell on vinyl or leather, so it's a good idea to rinse well with the water, and then immediately hit it with a good quality vinyl/leather cleaner and protectant.
Wy wife has issues with pens on our leather couch. The hair spray has been brought out numerous times, and when applied and treated properly, we haven't had an issue from it.
Just for future reference.
Yeah, I do tend to remember you mentioning this tip back in my overspray on the tonneau delima.
It seems like I tried it on the tonneau and it didn't work as the paint had bonded exceedingly well.... oh well.
I'll definately keep this in my back pocket as a 'trick to use' when the need arises. Thanks.

I like the hairspray method because, being a woman, it's something I have on hand; so when an ink spot is spotted I don't have to run out and buy a cleaner for it.
