new headlight switch ****?

The headlight switch **** broke on my 02 F-150. The part that clips onto the switch broke. I checked with the local dealer and they don't sell just the **** for a 4x2, they've only got a 4x4 **** and they swear they tried it before and it won't work.

Where I can get a replacement ****? I've seen chrome ***** for the hvac switches on some show trucks, maybe someone makes something similar for the headlight switch? Can someone point me towards some reliable shops/brands for these? Thanks.

They are different.

You see, the 4X2 doesn't have fog lights but, the 4X4 does. As for functionality, I'm not sure.

Contact torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com to inquire about a new switch assembly. I don't think you're going to find a new **** by itself though...

This is true, but the non-foglight **** will still pull out. I don't know how that affects the wiring behind the ****. Maybe thats the issue.

Hmm... didn't realize that honestly. I know I've rented 4X2 trucks (late model) in the past and the **** didn't pull out.... maybe some did and some didn't.

I bet the wiring is slightly different but, I'm not sure. I have the schematic for the harness coming into the switch but, I don't have it for the switch to the harness (the pins). I assume some of the pins are dead on the 4X2.

Although, with that in mind, if the harness coming in is the same (which I'm 99.9% sure that it is), what would keep you from using either switch?

The switch will work. RockPick is right. Some of the wires are dead but the wire harness is the same and the layout. I'm trying to activity the fog lamp wires as I'm typing. I know how to jump the wire to make it work but I trying to do it factory.

Read to following for more help and some ideas on wiring layout.

J and Lost is right, the switch will still pullout to activate fogs. The switch connectors are there but of course there's no wiring behind it for fogs. I just wired mine to be contanstly on along with parking lights like I wanted.

Anyways, back to the switch. Dealers will sell the whole switch and not just the cover alone. Mine was scratched from the alarm install (those rascals) and dealer quoted $120 for the switch. I paid it but it should be lower @ FordPartsCheap.

i see them on ebay from time to time. my 2x4 has no pull out on the switch, but it is wired for fogs. they are going for about $20 on ebay, slick upgrade for functional foglight use.
