Dog Hair on Seats

Can anyone suggest a good way to clean dog hair from a cloth interior? I've got an 03 XLT with the light gray interior. I haul my lab around in the truck and his hair seems to stick to the seats. I've tried vacuuming, brushing, and the masking tape rollers. Nothing works well.

I had the same problem in my old car with my dalmation...

I always had really good luck with lint brushes. You know the kind that have a soft face that you ran against the grain of the fabric... the one I had had a red face on it and worked like a charm.

I'm not sure I've seen this type of brush more recently however... just seems to be those tape types that I see anymore and, you're right, they didn't work worth a poop.

I bought a sponge that appears to be a soft rubber. It pulls all the hair to one spot and it can be picked off easily. I find it the worst on the back of the drivers seat. I guess he leans into the seat pretty hard for balance. This works for me.

My black lab is going on 11 so some of his hair now matches my seats.

An air hose with 90 psi will get a little of it off but not much. Good for under the seats though.

Get some of the rubber gloves used for washing dishes. Those will pick the hair right up. I use them on getting my Cheasepeake Bay's hair up. Works great.

I use a hand held dirt devil vac. It has an oscillating brush that picks up the hair well.

I use it also on the furniture also. He is not allowed on the couch/chairs. I never see him on them but somehow his hair magically appears there...

There's a SUPER trick. I tried this the other night on our carpet after I read it and, with my lab mutt, it totally cleaned the carpet.... GREAT trick there Rugby!!!!

Masking Tape

Use a piece of Masking Tape to remove the hairs. When the tape no longer picks up the hairs, get a new piece. You can also wrap the tape around your hand or fingers (sticky side out) to reach the tight spots.

For dog hair try this. Get a Playtex dishwashing glove, put it on and wipe the dog hair into a pile. Works like a charm.

I bought a couple of sheets from Goodwill. I lay them across the back seats when my Lab and Rottweiller are passengers. What little hair gets on the seat can be picked up with one of the rollers.

Hope you learned that dog hair and cloth seats are not a good combination.

I've always gone with upgraded seating. Captains chairs in a standard cab. You get the velour fabric. Dog hair doesn't stick and is easily vacuumed up. Of course you can always go to leather too.
