interior vinyl cleaning

hey all, got a question, otherwise then i would not be here! anyway, my wife has a 99 Expedition. she got it used and it looks like that the previous owners cleaned the interior with a dirty gym sock! in the creases of the vinyl, there is dirt. any ideas as to getting that crap out without damaging the finish on the vinyl? i'm not talking about the dash plastics, just like the 'oh ****' handles and doors!

A good multi purpose cleaner will do the trick and not damage the vinyl.

I would suggest Meguiar's EXTRA (in a purple bottle) or All Purpose Cleaner + (APC+).... unfortunately, you have to buy the APC by the gallon and it makes a bunch more because it comes concentrated.

I would also dilute the EXTRA as it's more of a degreaser but would work for this application. Don't clean your seats with it.

I think it will but, if you have some difficulty, I'd get a soft bristled toothbrush and attack it with VERY light pressure. Shouldn't be a problem though...

Suprising that I'd suggest such a product isn't it?

Oh yeah, another great multi-purpose cleaner that's out there is Meguiar's Citri-Gel... again though, you can only buy it by the gallon.

soft toothbrush or maybe a painters brush will work. Is it for vinyl seats, or vinyl trim on the inside of the truck

it's all in the door paneling, the soft vinyl, not the dash, but as i was reading your reply, i was like...DUH, why didn't i think of that!, with the toothbrush!! thanks! also, since i'm here, this one is for RockPick since he seems to be the meguires expert. any good meguires product that out does armorall or any of those type products? i like the extreme shine but it seems that amorall and the 2000 lasts only a few days to a week or two. i have thier catalog, but it seems like all their stuff has a matte finish so they say! any ideas? thanks! willie d

hey RockPick, it is for the dash but i found that i had bought some meguires "shine" and "endurance". i used turtle wax 2001 tonight, and it looked like crap. found the meguires and...Bam!! what a big difference! is there anything out there that shines more than meguires "natural shine" product? i mean it looks fantastic now, can't wait to see it in the sun tomorrow!

The 'Natural' product is a great product if you're not looking for a 'bling bling' shine. I have a bottle of it and occasionally use it to detail some trim or something like that...

I've found that #40 shines better than the Natural Shine as far as protectants go... Might check it out:

BLING BLING is right!! looks great. i went to a body shop dealer and picked up some show car glaze. but that 'bling bling' look is exactly what i am looking for.
