My gear selector broke on my 99 F-150. When Im in D it reads 2 gear has anyone else had this problem and can I fix it or do I need to take it to a dealer? Is there a site that can help me with this.

there is a cable linkage thingy that changes the gear indicator. It probably got pulled or worked loose.

Any mechanic could fix this.
