Leather Seat Tearing - What to do?

The front leather seat is just starting to tear in my 98 F150 4.6L 116,000 Miles. I will spend the money to have it redone someday but I would like to patch it and wait for the rest of the seat to get a little more time on it first. Any suggestions?

this may sound painful...

but duct tape it closed so it wont tear any fiurther and then put a seat cover on so you cant see the duct tape. This is the easiest, cheapest fix until you can have the leather properly repaired/replaced.

Tape

I figured tape of some sort. I have duct tape but I was hoping someone knew of maybe a heat bonding tape that would work.
Something like what's used on carpets.

I've tried those "Leather Repair" kits before, and they don't work. You just have to spend the $$$ and get it repaired or reupholstered.
