Question ashtray/cupholder

Quick (and probably stupid) question

I've got a 02' 'Screw/Lariat...

I was noticing that there's some sort of wires leading into the back of that combo drink holder/asktray that's in the center of the dash.

My question is what are the wires for? I don't see any light or anything in there.. am I missing something? Should there be a light...

Thanks
Dan

Ahhhhh...

I had a feelin' there should be a light there.. especially when I fumbled around trying to get my drink into it in the dark...

(I didn't get it new.. so I guess that it's either burned out, or something else)..

now the goal of trying to figure out how to replace bulb.

Thanks
Dan

Thumbs up

Along the top edge of the cupholder, there are two clips. Hold a flashlight up the gap and you should be able to see them. Use a long skinny flat blade screwdriver to release them. Push one down, pull out on that side slightly, then push the other one down. The whole assembly should slide right out then. Flip it over and you'll be able to see the bulb. Even with the cupholder removed it's hard to get to, but it can be done. To reinstall, simply push it back in until you hear the clips pop back in. Good luck!,,,,98

try this

yes there is a light, and after reading little mods here i drilled two small holes, and inserted 2 LED lights into each of the cup holders, go to any radio shack, get what ever color you want, drill splice and wa la, looks very cool, and they also dim with the rest of the lights, mine are green LEDS

Hey Chicago_guy,

would you mind writing out the specifics on how you did that? Sounds like a cool idea but I'm electrically deficiant! If I tried that on my own, i'd probably splice into the ignition or something!
