New here and need interior help
Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind me posting here. My husband was posting here under 2001screw4.6. He was in the process of thinking of a new user name and updating his profile when he got deployed. We had less than 24 hour notice.
Anyway, I need your help. His 2003 Screw has leather seats. What do I clean them with? There is alot to choose form out there and I dont want to use crap and ruin his seats while he is gone. I have looked all in his shed and can't find leather cleaner, conditioner, anything. I think I remember him saying he ran out. My 2002 Mustang has cloth seats so I can't go with what I use in my car.
Thanks lots guys!!
Michelle

I think that Lexol is the brand of choice on this board. They make both a Leather Cleaner and a Leather Conditioner. I usually can find them both at Pepboys. I have never seen anyone post anything negative about either product.
Here's to our troops and the support they deserve

go to your local Wal-Mart and see if they still have Tanners Preserve cleaner and conditioner(2 seperate bottles)..this is the best stuff but wallly is not gonna carry it anymore because of slow sales(the 2 bottles together cost over 10 bucks) I did a buddys Lariat seats and you could see the differance at the middle of the seat where I hadnt been yet and the next morning he said he could smell the leather, somthing he hadnt smelled in a year....look up on the top shelves or over where they put the clearance items ..I found 6 bottles of both at a wally across town one day and bought them all..thats how serious I am about this stuff..It,s the best I've used
I swear by Lexol Conditioner... NOT the cleaner. I have used the Tanner's product that was mentioned here earlier and, I have to say, it's a very good product and not very expensive.
As for the conditioning, my leather will recieve Lexol conditioner (brown bottle)... period.

Thanks guys for the advice and more importantly, the support for our troops! The nearest Pepboys is an hour away. Living in a small town really sucks some time! Of course, now I have more of a reason to go for a drive! (even though he said not to drive his truck! lol)

A few years back I worked at a small Mercedes shop, and all we used was Lexol. Not sure why the one guy doesn't like the cleaner, but it's good stuff all around. If you use the cleaner, make SURE you use the conditioner afterwards. Let the seats "sit" for awhile after using both, so it can soak in well enough to help.,,,,98

LOL!
I didn't like it on my King Ranch leather because it was too harsh. It had a tendency to remove the coloring (tanning) from the leather itself.
On the flip side, with Lariat clear-coated leather, it's an excellent product. I've used it on my father's truck (02 Lariat Scab) and had excellent results. I've since left the bottle with him back home so that he can use it... it's out of my garage completely after what I did to my steering wheel with it... thank god for warranty work as I got a new one.

Don't blame the cheap leather Ford uses on the cleaner, lol! The Mercedes cars of any year never had any color softening trouble

You do know I'm joking right?

I've only ever used the cleaner and condition from Lexol on my riding jackets, Deb's leather interior in her LS-400 ( all leather, not just the seats ) and her Coach bags, never had a single bit of problem with color fade.
Lets see where the problem might be :
No probelms with the Lexol cleaner :
Mercedes
Lexus
Coach
Hein Gerrick
Ford Lariat Leather seats
Problem with the cleaner :
Ford KR Leather Seats
Humm.....makes you wonder

Clearcoat versus no clearcoat. Love and care of a vehicle versus a protective layer to 'make it fluffy' for longer periods of time.
Nuff said.
Plus, you're right. Don't get a KR unless you plan on taking care of it. I take care of mine...

Just yanking your chain. Why don't you ask the Zanio brothers ( Harley and XLT that is ) if the Zanio leather treatment would not have this problem. It seems to sure world hunger and global warming, so it must cure this right
Myself, I'm a Yankee, north of the mason dixon line we are not allowed to own KRs

Should have bought a HD SCrew, if I could have gotten it in another color besides black that is.

Nope, not going to ask the Zaino guys. They're busy Zaino'ing the Nuclear silos over in Korea to attempt to resolve that world crisis...
