Welding seats?

hehe... sounds funny, but I'm considering it. i'm runnin a 97 stndrd cab 4x that has a lot of miles on it and am gonna keep it for a while. I have a 60/40 split bench and the passenger seat's "clip" broke on it, so it is always in the "unreclined" position unless someone is sitting in it... and if I hit the brakes, they bang their head off the windshield.
I'm considering welding the seat back in place cause it's an older truck, it's a standard cab, and they're really ain't no reason to get behind there cause I got the jack under the seat.
The dealer wants 150 bucks in parts and labor to fix, and I ain't payin that for a high mileage truck. I have'nt checked junk yards yet, but I'm thinkin I'll pay at least a hundred for that 60 split anyways... whatcha think?

The brakets are easily removable from the seats in the junk yard. Ford seats are not a kit, they are made up of individual parts.

Go to a yard and take all the crap from under the seat. and leave the seat. Then go back and dismantle yours to see whats broken. Or dismantle yours and locate the broken piece and go hunting.

Personally, if I had a seat like that... I'd leave it... thats a cool way to shut up annoying passengers.
