leaking water through head liner
ihave a 97 f150 reg cab w/sliding rear window. My problem is that on the passenger side about 1" from where the headliner meets the window there is a wet spot. Its right next too the cost hanger.
I have never had this problem before, but i just installed a stereo system and up until i did i never had any leaks. When doing the install i never came close to the headliner.
It started when i took it to get washed after putting in the system and maybe from the high powered car wash it could have weakened the seal??
But now even when it rains ir leaks. Thanks in advance for any help

Nothing to do with your Install. That would be couincidence(spelling). The rear sliders are know for leaking water and wetting the headliners. The only REAL fix is to replace the rear window unit. Most trucks I have heard of can't even find the leak and if you try to re-seal it it usually still leaks.
My 98' F150 sTX had the same trouble and I had a window guy re-seal it twice.

its a problem i wetn threw too. My 97 started leaking also. went to the auto glass shop and they told me that most 97 models did it with the sliding back glass. Said it was a design defect in the way the glass seals off. Had my back glass replaced and have had no more problems and that was over a year ago.
The rear slider leaking is a VERY VERY VERY common problem and I believe that the timing with your stereo install was purely coincidental.
I just had my sliding rear glass replaced a few weeks ago because mine was leaking (01 SCREW). They replaced it with the 02' model because the 97+ version is a flawed design and hence, they don't even offer it in the Ford Parts master computer for sale. They only have the 02'+.

mine wasn't leaking, but i had it replaced before it even started, because i knew it was only a matter of time.
here's the old design window seal

and the revised design (02+)

looks better too

Thanks for all the replys, i didn't think it was the slide just because of how high it was leaking....but i think i have to get it resealed like harley#356 did. Dose anyone knwo how hard this would be or should i just take it somewhere to get replaced? Thanks again
