Broken passenger seat

I'll prolly have to take this to a dealer, but I'd thought I'd give it a fly on here first. I got a 97 F-150 standard cab with a 60/40 seat. The passenger back is stuck in the "all the way forward" position. Sumtin must have broke when i tried gettin behind there. I found a spring, but it might not have been from that.... I got crap all over the interior. I transport my boy in a carseat, so it's very concerning right now.... and I know the dealer will rape me if I take it in there.

Using a T55 torx bit, remove the seat from the truck (four bolts). With the seat out you can access the bottom of the seat where the adjuster is located ( The adjuster handle is attached to the mechanism so its easy to find). You should be able to determine what is wrong by just looking at the adjusting mechanism. Something might just be stuck and needs lubrication.

In any event, it should not cost much to fix the problem if you are willing to do the work yourself. The most important thing is to get the seat out so you can get to the problem. Be careful when removing the 60 seat because its kinda heavy.
