Sylvania zevo led taillight comparison video

Left side is the Sylvania zevo 3157r. Right is a Samsung 3157 off eBay. The Sylvania wins. Much more of a difference in brightness between the running lights and the brake/signals. The Samsung is just too bright for the running light portion of the led and therefore the break/signal is not as defined and distinguishable as the Sylvania.

Plus, the way the Sylvania Zevo is made, it reflects all of its light onto the back of the lamps reflective housing providing the best spread of light. The Samsung puts most it's light forward and on the sides not really utilizing the lamp housing.

Bottom line: LEDs that I've used in general are brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs. However, they're not all created equal. The Sylvania zevo wins in my mind. I got the pair on eBay for $15 shipped.

Hopefully my testing, wasting money and results can help others make the right choice the first time.

Note: the led cargo lights don't actually flicker like that in person. It's just due to being filmed for some reason.

Nice, but what's up with your cargo lamps? That flicker as they power off looks ridiculous. I replaced all of those up top with LED's and mine don't do that.

It's just the video for some reason. They don't flicker like that in real life. I guess it's kind of like when you see a computer screen on tv, it flickers and looks weird.

I filmed with my iPhone 6s in slomo and then set it at normal speed.

That looks good. I shall keep that in mind for other vehicles I intend to make an LED conversion to. Looks nice and bright! I'll have to look for an Amber type for the parking lamps of my Trans Am. Those little housings are sealed off well and don't dissipate heat well, melting the harnesses often in those cars. LEDs being cool would be a good solution.

I don't think that's how they do in real life

Yep, as 2008XL said, it's just something cameras do with LEDs flashing into them. I see it all the time watching Top Gear BBC on Netflicks, the fancy BMW and Audi cars with bright LED DRLs, and LED tail lamps, they all flicker on film.
