Hey sorry, I received the bulbs thursday but my work schedule didn't allow me time to install them. I will install them tonight as soon as it gets dark, I'm anxious to see how they do as well!

Well I just finished installing those LED bulbs. Not what I was expecting however I'm not disappointed. As always it pays to research and every application might require something different. I'll let the pictures speak for the bulbs. For these pics my gate is about 12-13 feet from the back of my truck and there was a street light that was on the stock bulb side which may have aided in the light you see.

So the LED's seem to have a more focused light pattern, which I had anticipated and wanted. The bulbs side LED's don't "flood" as much as I was hoping and they appear very blue (could just be my phone too) and I was hoping for more of a white light. While these bulbs definitely look better I would say they are only marginally brighter however they do "project" the light better. It's hard to say which is the superior bulb and I think it will depend on who you ask. For now I'll go with these and maybe look for another bulb to try. At $7 I'm really not complaining (I spent $40 on my Explorer fog bulbs which are awesome) considering a set of regular incandescent bulbs will run $4-5. So what do you guys think? Better? Equal? Worse?

Thanks for th pics, u are right they look very blue. The blue light would make it harder to see, wonder if they make those in a whiter light?

I'll take a look on amazon and ebay......

I definitely will be ordering something soon, when I do, I'll post a review if it's something different them you guys got.

The more I look at the pics the more I think it was my camera, the pic with both LED's on the gate look pretty white. I'm also still learning about the light temps and what they mean. Whiter light is rated at 5000K while blue light is 6000-7000K, my bulbs seem to be closer to 6000K. Also I think if you want more of a flood light effect a bulb with lots of smaller LED's would suit better and if distance is what you want then a "projector" style would work better.

I just found these, pricey but state 1000 lumen. Stock 3156 incandescent are 400 lumen per specs I found online.

http://www.vleds.com/3156-white-5k-h...1TlqfO8.mailto

They also say for momentary applications so looks like they would burn up if left on too long.....

Anyone use these?

Installed, remember these are through smoked taillights, if yours are clear it would be much brighter.. I am standing on my tailgate taking pictures of each side, driver side is led, passenger is stock. There is a noticeable difference in output, I took the car out to a dark road and tried them out, led is brighter by far. I am satisfied with jdm lights. Wife also said they are bright and "blinding". I would recommend these lights.

Led

Incandescent

I just contacted JDMaster about that bulb compared with another "extremely bright" option: http://www.jdmastar.com/144-smd-newe...s-trailers-rv/

Here is their reply:

"We feel sorry that the AX-2835 LED bulb can't satisfy your requirement. Yet our 144 SMD OR PX SMD are extremely bright, customers who bought love them very much, highly recommended.

The brightest is the 144 SMD for white, but for red & amber, it is PX SMD."

I'm gonna order that 144 SMD set from Amazon $25
