Hid vs halogen

Merry Christmas. I am interested in knowing the pros and cons for hids. I currently have sylvania halogens. The lights were good but melted part of my dog light housings. I would really like to upgrade my headlights and fog lights especially since I am now ready to buy. Any input would be very appreciated and happy holidays to my fellow Ford owners. Thanks

The above should purty much cover it.

In summary:

If you melted yer 'dogs' ( fogs?) you used too high a wattage bulb.

HID's will run cooler in the fog position but will glare like the deekens.

PnP HID"s in yer heads will produce massive glare, poor precision, poor uniformity and poor width. Add the fact that yer OEM lenses are fresnel, it will be simply unacceptable as a safe (to others and to you) suitable lighting source.

Unless you are willing to spend the money / invest the time in a proper projector retrofit within clear housings, stick to properly spec'd halogens.

Examples of yer model year are in here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/il...t-members.html

Happy Holidays.

All of this. .. I'd put my own input in, but let's just say I'm a few drinks to the wind... Good luck on your quest. Retrofit FTW!!
